Propaganda
An advertisement I found online that uses at least two propaganda techniques is the guitar hero commercial with Heidi Klum. A technique they used is beautiful people because it has a famous celebrity that is very attractive and seems happy. She is in lingerie and makes playing guitar hero look sexy and fun. Another propaganda technique they used is half truth. The buyer will obviously not be playing like she is because you have to look at your television screen in order to know what keys to push.

Television
· The length of the video: 4:07
· A description of the video in your own words: It describes how the media has an affect on teenage girls. More and more girls are beginning to diet and they worry about how they look when they should worry about their health.
· The name of the corresponding chapter in our textbook: Magazines.
· A course related quiz question to go along with the video: How do images in the media affect one's self image?
· An answer to the quiz question: People worry way too much on their appearance.

Recording
My favorite sound recording of 2009-10 would have to be 25 to life by Eminem. Eminem has always been one of my favorite rap artists next to Tupac. He writes about personal yet universal topics in his songs. I literally played this song everyday the first weeks. I have never been put in the situation he is in the song but the words he uses in the song feels real and deep. His tone in voice make him sound powerful and the beat makes me nod my head.
25 to life
One of my favorite oldie song is Lean On Me by Bill Withers. I like this song because it has a lot of meaning to it. It could be for a loved one or a friend, and you will always be there for them. It show them how much you really care and love them. His voice and words puts it all together.

Books.
I have never really been a fan of reading books unless I was assigned it. But I would have to say the three most influential books I have read thus far is The Kite Rinner, A Child Called it, and Star Girl.
The Kite Runner is a novel is based on redemption and bacially speaking the truth. I could not stop reading thi book. It has a lot of graphic parts but it makes the novel that intense. You learn many historical facts of Afghanistan and see different views and experiences. It opened my eyes on many things.
Another book that i admire is A Child Called it by Dave Pelzer. This is a very touching story it is tragic but inspirational. It is hard to believe that a child could go through what he did in his childhood. Its amazing seeing himself turn his life around, have faith and remain strong for himself.
As a child I remembering reading Star Girl. This book is influential because it shows that being different is beautiful. It explains that you could be yourself and you should stay true to yourself. One person would love you for yourself.

Media Impact
My Media Research Experiment Propasal: Reality television shows (Bad Girl Club, The Hills, All "love" shows, All the housewives, Jersey Shore, and etc. )have a neagtive impact on people, more specifically towards teenagers ages 14-17.
My laboratory experiment will be a random sampling of teenagers ages 14-17. I would use the Social Learning Theory and see how teenagers lives change by watching these shows on a daily basis. At first the teenagers will go through random surveys based on their daily life and social life before we begin the experiment. The teenagers would have to watch reality shows from 5-7 hours a day. This experiment will go on for about 1 month. After the experiment, I will use the survey method and ask them the same exact questions they were asked before at the end of the experiment. My hypothesis would be tested on the comparison of the before and after survey answers. I predict that the teens daily/social life will somewhat have a negative affect by watching the reality shows. Teenagers will mimic what others are doing just to be like them.
